If you are concerned that you may have a sexually transmitted infection (STI/STD), you may not know where to seek medical care in Japan, especially if you are not comfortable communicating in Japanese.

Our clinic provides medical consultations in both English and Japanese. International visitors traveling in Japan, as well as foreign residents living in Japan, are welcome to consult with us about concerns related to sexually transmitted infections.

Common sexually transmitted infections include chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes, and genital warts (HPV). These infections may cause symptoms such as pain or burning when urinating, discharge from the urethra, genital sores or warts, or testicular pain.

However, some STIs cause few or no symptoms. You may therefore have an infection without noticing any changes. If you are concerned about a possible exposure to an STI, testing may be appropriate even if you feel well.

If you develop symptoms or are concerned about an STI after sexual contact, it is important to seek medical advice rather than worry on your own. A urologist can evaluate your symptoms and assess the possibility of an STI, and then recommend appropriate tests and treatment.

Depending on your symptoms and the infection suspected, testing may include urine tests, blood tests, or other appropriate examinations. If treatment is necessary, we will explain the diagnosis and treatment options to you.

We understand that discussing sexual health can be difficult, particularly when you are in a foreign country. We aim to provide a private and respectful environment where you can discuss your concerns comfortably.

性感染症には、クラミジア、淋菌、梅毒、性器ヘルペス、尖圭コンジローマ（HPV）などがあります。排尿時の痛みや違和感、尿道からの分泌物、性器の潰瘍やイボ、陰嚢の痛みなどの症状がみられることがあります。

一方で、性感染症の中には症状がほとんどないものもあります。そのため、自覚症状がなくても感染している場合があります。感染の可能性がある接触があり、ご心配であれば、症状がなくても検査を受けた方がいい場合があります。

症状がある場合や、性感染症の可能性が心配な場合には、一人で悩まず医療機関にご相談ください。泌尿器科では、診察し症状や感染の可能性を確認したうえで、必要な検査や治療についてご案内します。

検査は、症状や疑われる感染症に応じて、尿検査、血液検査などを行います。治療が必要な場合には、診断や検査結果に基づいて、治療方法についてご説明します。
